Residential visit to Cambridge University.
28 Carleton Community High School students visited Cambridge University on 14th and 15th September in order to experience university life and raise aspirations.
During the overnight visit, students were given an insight into college life at Cambridge University and slept in the halls of residence at Selwyn College. Students were well looked after and dined in the oak panelled food hall.
Other activities included a motivational chat, guided tour of King's College and an open top red bus tour of the city. Students also visited Cambridge University Library, one of the UK's key libraries, where they received a private mini-lecture from a Cambridge University Professor and opportunity to view an exhibition about the Battle of Waterloo, called "A damned serious business". This exhibition included the Duke Wellington's personal note book and one of Napoleon's books on display. The residential was informative, fun and provided a real taste of university life and the benefits it has to offer.
The students were a credit to the school and their families.
