Back to the 80s
The spring school production 'Back to the 80s' played to enthusiastic audiences on Tuesday & Wednesday the 4th & 5th of April. The standard of production by all involved was superb and drew many positive comments. Below are a selection of photographs from the show.
Carleton's latest production had three performances this week with a show for Year 5 & 6 students from local primary schools on Tuesday morning and evening performances on Tuesday and Wednesday for a mixture of parents, friends and students. The show delighted all groups and the thunderous applause from the young day-time visitors was echoed by the older, evening audiences. With only eleven weeks of rehearsals the standard of acting, singing and dancing reached, reflected, not only the talent of the students involved, but also the amount of work that had gone into the production.
With so much ability on show this week we can only wait with eager anticipation for this summer's 'Carleton's Got Talent' concert.
On March 24th & 25th the Performing Arts department produced a show of scenes taken from some of our favourite musicals. The audience, as usual, were extremely appreciative of the high standard numbers from 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Smike', 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Grease'
Once again the Performing Arts department at Carleton excelled in their production of the musical "Jungle Fantasy". The show, based on the well used tale of the Jungle Man, this time known as Tartan, kept audiences at all four performances alternating between foot tapping and laughter. Below are some photographs taken of the show and for more of the same, the Pontefract & Castleford Express on line also produced a slideshow.
Christmas Concert 2013 -
Over many years now the standard of entertainment at the school Christmas Concert has reached great heights, and this year was no exception. An excellent evening of dance, drama and music left a sell out audience extremely satisfied.
Summer Show 2013
Another excellent evening as The Infinity was packed with a very appreciative, but hot, audience. Here are some photographs.
Gala Concert March 2013.
Instead of our traditional Easter production, this year, to mark the opening of the new Theatre we invited back former students of the school who excelled in Performing Arts whilst here. Some have gone on to pursue a career in either dance, drama or music whilst many still perform for pleasure
A small selection of current students performed but the focus of the evening was to celebrate the achievements of Performing Arts in Carleton over the last twenty years
When word went out that we wanted to do this, the response was overwhelming and your support for the evening was also greatly appreciated.
The Theatre was named officially as 'The Infinity' on the evening by Jamie Davis who has many TV credits to his name and has also spent time with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Christmas Concert 2012.
After four years spent at the Pontefract Sports and Social Club, on Wednesday evening the Performing Arts Department were finally able to produce a Christmas Concert back on school premises. The new school theatre was a fitting setting for an evening packed with talent, played in front of an appreciative, sell out, audience. Below are some pictures of the students taking part.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of the last week before the Easter break, the school had four performances of the musical comedy,' Zombied'. The show was excellent and called upon the talents of a very large cast and orchestra. The Sports Hall was again called into service with a theatre conversion, but with the new building come state of the art facilities and next year the school show will be back where it belongs.
